Canon 40D baader modified

This image is a composite of 18 images (with rather large overlaps). I used my Celestron C8 with a 4x PowerMate to get a good magnification.

My Canon 40D does not support movies, but there is a freeware called EOS Camera Movie Record available for download, which I have used. I took a number of movies ca 5-10 min long and loaded them into RegiStax and typically used the 150-200 best frames.

In some movies it was difficult to obtain good sharpness over the full image. The set up gives a FOV normally larger than using a web cam. The large FOV meant that only a few frames in each movie had good seeing over the full frame. In some cases it was necessary to process a movie four times, each time using a different alignment point, resulting in four images of the same area but with different parts sharp. These could then be combined in PhotoShop.

For a full resolution image click the link above (depending on browser you may have to open in new tab). There is also an option in which names of moon objects are indicated.
