The 2" Televue 4X Powermate will do exactly what it says, magnify the view four times without distortions. It will also increase the f-number by a factor four. E.g. the Celestron C8 having an f-number of 10 will become a f40 OTA. In other words the prime usage of the Powermate is for observing and imaging the sun (you will need sun-filter in addition), the moon and the planets. Here is a moon mosaic that I took using the Powermate, the C8 and Canon 40D.
